Those arrested during the eviction of Occupy Buffalo have been offered a compromise in which the charges of “trespassing” will be dropped after 6 months provided they do not set up camp in Niagara Square again. Similar tactics have been utilized globally by local government. However the scrutiny of Appellate courts to the dubious policing and general governmental ill-treatment of unarmed, peaceful protesters worldwide is likely to produce a very different outcome.
