Massive NZ March Coverage – NZEI ‘Stand Up For Kids’

Today, more people than the GCSB could ever perform illegal surveillance on came together for arguably the largest anti-privatision & anti-austerity action we have witnessed to date.

Nearly 10,000 people packed Queen Street & Aotea Square in Auckland Central today, to Stand Up For Kids. Children are the all too frequent victims of poverty in New Zealand and nothing about the current ruling Government’s education policy is improving that.

To the contrary, charter schools are leading us down the same terrible path as elsewhere in the world where their institution has already further devastated struggling communities.

Education should not be for sale. We do not want corporations owning our schools any more than we want them owning our prisons. Some things are too precious to have their integrity teetering on the balance of a profit margin.

Occupy Dunedin also rocked it. A show of force from our Southerner brothers and sisters:

Occupy Dunedin Dunedin Stands Up For KidsDunedin TeachersMeanwhile, in the capital; we were sent this utter GEM of a 1 min vid from Occupy Wellington;

Jai Bentley-Payne said it best. “Austerity is a scam!” But these guys aren’t far off. Asset sales are BULLSHIT!

Congratulations NZ for getting off your backsides and making noise. There are more of us doing it by the day and it is extremely heartening to see.

When people’s rights are under attack; stand up, fight back!

Occupy Wall Street Protesters Mass Arrested On Brooklyn Bridge

NYPD arresting peaceful unarmed non-violent protestors en masse… go about 2:30 into it to see the people sitting down & linking arms & still getting assaulted/arrested by the police. TV1/TV3/1ZB etc -STILL- not reporting this. Shame on you MSM.

Occupy Wall Street Video Montage to Rage Against The Machine’s “Freedom”

Take a walk with me down memory lane: Northcote College, 1997 SFC Music end of year final performance exam, I ate breathed & slept with my bass guitar at that time so I put together a band & performed the song “Freedom” by Rage Against The Machine with my childhood friend Dave playing electric guitar. Back then he was the boyfriend of the NZ soul singer Hollie Smith (she was 4th form, we were 6th) & we rocked it for a class that included the only other chick bassist at NC, Maree Thom, most recently of Don McGlashan & the Seven Sisters. Watching this video clip after YEARS of not having heard the song… I still remember every word & every note. We are the 99%.

Solidarity March To NYSE: All Branches Of US Military Represented

This piece almost brought me to tears because for 10 years I and basically everyone I know has abhorred the horrific wars, the lies that have preceded them, and the “foreign policy” of the USA & assorted co-criminals and now their OWN MILITARY are marching against all the injustice. “Dozens” of enlisted/veterans representing ALL branches of the US military marching in support of the Occupy movement; the first march allowed through the police barriers & right to the very entrance of the New York Stock Exchange.

TV3: “Tents, Sleeping Bags And A Point To Make”

These TV3 videos really give no idea of how many people were actually there….what appear to be sweeping camera angles are actually only a small fraction of the crowds present… but hell at least its being reported (kind of) by the mainstream media!!! Congratulations Occupy Auckland!!!
